Green (for Piet)
02:34
|
|||
Just the morning sun
foaming at our knees
and green won't fall for me
How we went to sleep
in the glassy streams
and green won't fall for me
When I tried to see
from the open air above a street
with sidewalks staring up looking down
When I felt you move
as we turned away from red to blue
the lines I meant to say were all in sounds
just a gated sea
wide enough to read
and green won't fall for me

When We Were Perfect
02:33
|
|||
Sweet colors to drink
with blue down the side
a soft
balloon
to ride
But what do I know?
All that I've seen
another thought
I'd rather not believe
It seems like our way though
has got me down to size
all along with the hope
just fading from my eyes
With the sun by a string
a pool in the sky
I sit
below
and smile

Beach
01:49
|
|||
And so my sweet turned sad
the beach's yellow head
the grass the sand the sea
the pink melts in to red
so far away
so far away

Water Underneath
02:45
|
|||
Water underneath
cracks in the street
doors slamming shut
rain seeping in
tile and rope
toys left alone
black tar and ash
glue in ceramic bowls.
Does anyone know where I am?

Strange Animals
04:10
|
|||
I bummed to catch the train,
instead I caught the rain,
caught the sogginess,
of my old blue jeans,
caught lights of the road,
pigeons shitting glue
caught fish in newspapers,
and my hair pulled too,
got my teeth punched bloody
my intestines burned
dragging out the bottom,
to the tar and dirt
oh no
It keeps me writing still
desk lamp diagonal
deep in a heart of the night
when my mind is full
I pull myself apart
from my light ribcage
octopus in salt
inks on the white bleached page
Pulling lemon lungs
with guitar strings
well I can laugh it up
as the plaster drips
oh no
I ate the paint chippings
and soured all my teeth
with my eyes soap dry
and in my boxers skinny
and I sat and hummed
and put my fingers deep
in the carpet for crumbs
and insect sticky remains
when I broke down constructions
in the bare wooden wall
I made my stomach sick
and caught strange animals
oh no

Sponge
01:56
|
|||
a spongy reef
all day
I sleep
and you won't cry
for me
a heavy sea
all day
I sleep
and you won't cry
for me
